Gabon is located on the west of Central Africa. In the east and south it borders with the Republic of the Congo (the length of the border 1903 km), in the north - with Cameroon (298 km) to the north-west - with Equatorial Guinea (350 km), in the west of the country goes to the waters of the Gulf of Guinea of the Atlantic Ocean. The total length of 2551 km of borders, coastline length - 885 km. The coastline of the country separates into two parts the Cape Lopez. To the south shore of the straight, flat, with a shallow lagoon. To the north of the Cape coastline is more complex shape, here are located conveniently bay - estuaries.

The country's territory is 267 667 km². 

The inner part of Gabon occupies arrays and plateaus of South Guinea highlands. The greatest height of the mountains reach Chaillu Mountains (Mount Ibundji, 1580 m), located in the central part of Gabon and deeply folded and metamorphosed rocks of the Early Precambrian granites. To the north-west of them raises Crystal Mountain (Mount Dana, 1000), composed of Precambrian crystalline rocks. From the south-west to the mountains Chaillu Mountains adjoins several chains of low mountains and hills - the northern end of the late fold system Western Kongolid. In the west of the country, along the Atlantic coast, low-lying plain extends up to 200 km. It is an area of intense, which began in the Cretaceous dives that led to the accumulation of many kilometers of sediment thickness, first lagoon-continental, then saline and sea.
