Myanmar borders with India (1463 km) and Bangladesh (193 km) to the west, with China (2185 km) to the north-east, Laos (235 km) to the east and Thailand (1,800 km) to the southeast. From the south and south-west its shores are washed by the Bay of Bengal and the Gulf of Martaban (Martaban) and the Andaman Sea.

The country's territory is 678 500 km².
