Nepal, a small mountainous country in Asia, located between the two Asian giants - India and China. Nepal stretches for about 650 km along the Great Himalayan Range, while its width does not exceed 200 km. By area, it takes about 150 thousand square meters. km. Nepal has no outlet to the sea, bordering with only two countries, its location is very closed. To the north it borders with Tibet Autonomous Region of China, and in the south it is surrounded by the Indian states (from west to east: Uttaranchal, Utter Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim). Just 15 km of West Bengal separate Nepal from Bangladesh and within 88 km Indian state Sikkim is situated Bhutan.

The country's territory is 140 800 km². 

Despite the fact that Nepal is a small country, its territory has a very diverse terrain. From south to north the territory gradually rises to 250 meters above sea level to the very top of the Great Himalaya Range, ending at an altitude of over 8000 m. In Nepal, there are three large physiographic zones lie parallel and successive south to north: plain Terai, the midlands and directly highest mountains, the Himalayas. Plain region of Nepal, the Terai, is located along the border with India. Terai - is the northern end of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, a width of 20 - 40 km.
