The location, grounds and landscape 

Hungary borders with Slovakia to the north, Ukraine - in the northeast, Romania - in the south-east, Croatia - in the south, Slovenia - in the southwest and Austria - to the west.

Country has a predominantly plain relief. Most part of modern Hungary is located on the Pannonian plain. The western part of the plain (Dunantul) is dissected by numerous hills up to 300 m, the eastern (Alfeld) - has a flat low-lying terrain. North-west country is occupied by Kishalfeld lowland, bounded on the west with elevation Alpokalya, which is the foothills of the Alps with the height of 500-800 m. Here (in Matra) is the highest point in Hungary - Kekes mountain (1014 m). In the mountains, on the border with Slovakia is situated one of the largest karst caves in Europe Agtelek with numerous underground rivers and lakes.
