Peru as a tourist destination primarily due to its wonders and mysteries is the legacy of ancient civilizations of the earth prehistoric Peru. The location, grounds and landscape

Peru is located in South America, bordering with the Pacific Oceanwith Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Brazil and Chile. It is the third on area (after Brazil and Argentina) country on the continent.

Area: 1,285,216 sq. km.

The country can be divided into four topographic regions: Costa, Sierra, Selva and Montana. Coastal plain (Costa) is arid and the longest section of the territory on which the majority of cities in Peru are situated. To the east of the plain there is a mountainous region of Sierra, which occupies about 30% of the country. The main mountain range is Eastern Cordillera with the highest point in Peru - Mount Huascaran (6768 m). In the south-east of the Sierras is the most high-navigable lake Titicaca. The north-east of the Sierra passes in extensive tropical valley - the Amazonian lowlands (Selva), and it, in turn, moves to the south in the piedmont plain Montagna. These regions account for about 60% of the territory of Peru and are covered almost impenetrable jungle. The main rivers of the country: the Amazon and its tributaries Maranon, Ucayali and Putumayo.

Climate: In general, the climate on the coast is subtropical with very little rainfall. The Andes mountains observe a cool-to-cold climate with rainy summers and very dry winters. The eastern lowlands present an Equatorial climate with hot weather and rain distributed all year long.

The climate and the average temperature

Climatic zones are very diverse - from the tropical climate in Montana, to the Arctic in the Sierra. On the coast there is subtropical climate with very little precipitation. In mountainous areas it is cool and cold climate with rainy summers and very dry in the winter. In the eastern lowlands there is an equatorial climate with hot weather and rains, alternating throughout the year.

Monthly average temperatures on the coast are 15-25° C, in the Andes, on the plateaus between 5 and 16° C, on the plain it is 24-27° C. The precipitation is from 700 to 3000 mm per year.

Flora and fauna

 Vegetation varies depending on the region. On the western slopes of the Andes there are rare shrubs and cacti; on inland plateaus in the north and east - tropical alpine steppes, in the south-east - semi-desert. On the eastern slopes of the Andes and the plains of La Selva there are wet evergreen forests. In the jungle grow mahogany, rubber, sarsaparila, vanilla tree and a large number of exotic tropical flowers, such as orchids.

Fauna of Peru is not very rich, but presents interesting views. The coastal plain is inhabited by lizards, tarantulas, scorpions. In the Sierra you can find llama, alpaca, vicuna, chinchilla. Among the birds stand a giant condor, partridge, duck, goose, flycatcher, finch. In the jungle you can see exotic animals and birds: jaguars, cougars, armadillos, peccaries, tapirs, anteaters, monkeys, alligators, parrots, piranhas, anacondas.

 In Lima there are regular flights of largest international airlines, including KLM (transfer in Amsterdam), Air France (transfer in Paris ), Iberia (transfer in Madrid), British Airways (transfer in London), Lufthansa (transfer in Frankfurt am Main), Alitalia (transfer in Rome), as well as LAN Airlines - a leading airline in Latin America. International flights served by a small, but modern metropolitan airport Jorge Chavez, which is located 16 kilometers from Lima.

Also there are international airports in the cities of Cusco, Arequipa, Piura and Iquitos. 

Popular tourist sites 

In Peru you can not only visit the world famous archaeological sites of ancient cultures and colonial cities, but also see the Peruvian Amazon, as well as a dip in the distinctive and mystical Indian culture. 

Machu Picchu is one of the "New Wonders of the World", which will not miss the real traveler. The Lost City of the Incas in the mountains attracts thousands of tourists from around the world. The incredibly beautiful and energetic place was discovered in the twentieth century, however remained virtually destroyed. The city has dozens of facilities for inspection: Gate of the Sun, the Sacred Area, the Temple of three windows, hewn in the form of a large fist with a raised index finger, Intiuatana stone, as well as other created from blocks of stone buildings of Machu Picchu.

Nazca desert is one of the most mysterious places on Earth. It is still not revealed the secret of giant figures in the form of animals, geometric shapes and simple lines. Most of them can be seen from an airplane, and some - even from a viewing platform.

Sacred Valley of the Incas is a picturesque valley of the River Urubamba, in the Peruvian Andes near the city of Cusco. This is a sacred place for the Inca place where many archaeological sites are situated, including the ruins of temples and otherplaces of worship.

Silyustani is a pre-Inca cemetery, located on the shore of the lake near the town of Puno Umayya. The Graves are in the form of towers ("chulpa") and refer to the period of existence of the kingdom Stakes, by the people Aymara laterconquered by the Incas. The area has a very unusual landscape and extremely powerful energy. People come here from all over the world to watch for flying objects that appear here quite often.

Cusco is one of the oldest cities in Latin America and the capital of the Inca empire. Archaeological excavations have revealed that people settled in this area for more than three thousand years. The city's name is translated from the Indian language as Quechua (the official language of the Inca Empire), means Navel of the Earth. Today the Spanish colonial style is in harmony with the architectural elements of the time of Inca Indians.

Iquitos is one of the most beautiful cities in Peru, which is located on the banks of the Amazon River. Colonial architecture and luxurious mansions of the rubber barons of XIX century give amazing city views. From Iquitos you can go into the jungle to visit the local Indians - Aboriginal such as Boras and Yaguas.

Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world, which is located in the Andes on the border of Peru and Bolivia. This is the largest reserve of fresh water lake in South America. Around the lake and on the islands there are manysettlements of Aymara and Quechua. The population lives on the floating reed islands of Uros, which are often visited by tourists who are interested in the life and lifestyle of the natives.

Lima is the capital of a country that successfully combines administrative functions and cultural heritage of the Spanish colonizers and the ancient cultures of pre-Columbian era. Here you can see the old mansions of the nobility in Lima Center,Cathedral of Santo Domingo, built in the XVI century, the Government Palace, the Plaza de San Martin, the Archbishop's Palace and the Church of San Francisco, visit the Museum of the Inquisition, Museum of Art, National Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, Museum of the nation and the unique gold Museum, ceramics Museum named after Rafael Larco Herrera.
