Airport in India completely switched to solar energy

Located in the Indian state of Kerala, Cochin International Airport became the first airport in the world, functioning exclusively with the help of the solar energy.
The new system, which will make the airport completely independent from traditional energy sources, was presented on Tuesday.
It is known that solar power station of the airport consists of more than 46,000 solar panels, which are located on an area of over 180 square kilometers.
In March 2013 Cochin International Airport started stepping to renewable energy sources.Then, solar panels were installed on the roof of one of the airport terminals, but until now the airport also used conventional energy sources.
